Membership Options

Our memberships help keep Dartmoor Makers running and make it possible for us to offer creative opportunities to as many people as we can. They support the studio, subsidise access, and help us grow a strong, inclusive community.

We’ve kept things simple, with three ways to be involved: Studio Membership for regular makers, Friends Membership for ongoing supporters and Work Exchange Membership for those who’d like to contribute their time and skills.

Our memberships give you access to book studio sessions throughout the week, with options for different amounts of weekly studio time and a tiered payment structure to keep things accessible.

Memberships will include use of tools, wheels, glazes, clay and firings (both charged at cost) plus an induction and simple studio guidelines. You’ll be able to choose the tier that fits your needs and budget, set up a monthly subscription (cancel anytime) and receive a code to book your studio hours through our online booking system.

Person making a piece of clay work in the pottery studio

Volunteer Exchange Membership

Swap your time and skills for studio access. We know not everyone can afford monthly studio fees so we offer a number of work exchange memberships at Dartmoor Makers. Our Volunteer Exchange Membership offers a limited number of places for people to swap time and skills for studio access.

In return for helping around the studio (cleaning, glaze mixing, recycling clay, admin, or helping with workshops), you’ll receive the same access as our 4-hour studio membership, at no cost.

Ideal for anyone who wants to be part of our creative community without financial pressure.

We offer and ask for the following:

    • Commit to a minimum of 2-4 hours of support work per week (this might include cleaning, recycling clay, mixing glaze, admin, helping prep workshops, or other studio or administrative tasks)
    • In return, receive 2-4 hours of studio access per week (1 hour support work = 1 hour studio time)
    • Show up reliably and on time – We count on your contribution to help keep the studio running smoothly.
    • Communicate in advance if you need to miss a session – We understand that life happens — just let us know as early as possible.
    • Follow studio guidelines. You’ll get an induction and support from us — we just ask you to stick to the same safety and community rules as everyone else.

These places are offered on an individual basis and include a trial period to make sure the arrangement works well for both of us.
